Hi, my name is Kim Edwards. I am a licensed family child care provider. I offer childcare in my home in HYDE PARK, MA for children ages 4wks to 4yrs old. This would be a great place for your child to spend time before kindergarten.
I am a married-to-a-firefighter, stay-at-home mother of five boys, ages 4, 7, 9, 19 & 22. I've been a licensed provider for 5yrs and a parent and babysitter to lots of friends and neighbors for many years, and I take a basic approach to parenting and childcare. I get down onto their level to play, communicate and solve problems. I speak clearly to them to encourage proper speech. We describe the basic things around us to encourage recognition of letters, numbers, colors, shapes, etc. I respect and treat them the way I want them to respect and treat others. I nurture and lead by example.
I've created an environment that promotes experiential learning, fostering the development of social & emotional skills, self-esteem, healthy growth & development, cognition, motor skills & creativity. My goal is to take the interests of the children and build a curriculum around that (emergent curriculum).
We now live in a single family home, with a separate, downstairs space for child care, where the entrance is right at the home's front door (easy drop off, easy pick up.) There are two large yards, so no need to go to a park to run, jump & play! The neighborhood is very quiet with lots of nature & our house is located on a cul-de-sac. We participate in a government-funded food program, therefore nutritious meals will be provided to your child daily. Diapers and wipes are also included in tuition.
